A Quest for Perfection – Our Quality and Standards

Oriflame has some of the highest standards in the industry and a great deal of that success can be attributed to our passionate staff. So, we sat down with our Global Quality Director Katalin Gerendassy to learn more.

1. WHY IS QUALITY SO IMPORTANT?
At Oriflame, quality is incredibly important. This might sound obvious, but as a business that’s built on personal recommendations and produces such a vast amounts of products - it’s critical to our success. Since our Consultants give their word while selling our products, risking their personal credibility, we have to deliver.

2. TELL US ABOUT THE QUALITY LEVEL AT ORIFLAME
Our ambition is simple: we want to deliver products that meet or exceed our customers’ quality expectations. And we’re proud to say that we have some of the highest standards in the industry when it comes to quality and product safety.

3. WHAT’S THE SECRET BEHIND ORIFLAME’S HIGH QUALITY?
Our secret lies in our people. Our New Product Development teams are devoted to paying meticulous attention to detail, sourcing the right ingredients from the right suppliers, and testing and re-testing – long before the final product ever appears.

They not only aim to reach international industry standards. They also set their own, even higher, personal standards – an internal expertise based on benchmarks and best practices. All to make sure our customers get the best end product possible.

4. TELL US MORE ABOUT ORIFLAME’S QUALITY WORK
At Oriflame, we are building a strong “quality culture” that embraces every single business area, every function and every department. Basically, we are striving for quality in everything we do. Quality has to be part of everyone’s responsibility – whatever their job title or position. Because everything is so closely linked, and every decision we make in the process effects the end result.

5. WHAT ABOUT OUR SUPPLIERS?
We also place high demands on our suppliers – regularly evaluating them to make sure they comply with our requirements. Put simply, this means all suppliers are quality-checked on every aspect of their business – from their HR policy and organisation structure, to product and personnel safety. The fact that they work in hygienic factory conditions, with well-maintained equipment and efficient utilities, and professional expertise goes without saying.

After approving our suppliers, we sometimes run extra quality testing ourselves. Quality perceptions can differ from different regions around the world, and although a supplier might reach the requirements for that region, Oriflame is a global company – and should have one set of global standards. This means we have higher standards than necessary in some regions.

Then, every six months, we bring our key suppliers together, and take time to measure, test, analyse and discuss how we work together.
