1. Practise a little mindfulness
Try to get out of your own head a little bit with a simple mindful practice. Find a few minutes during your day to pause and connect with your surroundings – what can you hear? What can you smell? Focusing on your environment can offer a reprieve from the day’s worries and a moment to recharge.
2. Adopt a calming morning routine
Many of us are guilty of staying in bed until the last possible second, leaving ourselves far too little time to prepare ourselves for the day ahead. Getting up a little earlier to eat a delicious breakfast or apply a soothing skin care routine creates some space especially for you and your needs. 3. Drink plenty of water
One of the simplest and most effective things you can do for your health and wellbeing is to drink plenty of water, especially in the morning when you’re more likely to be dehydrated. It’s also a surprisingly great pick-me-up in the afternoon when you’re feeling sluggish!
4. Take up a new hobby
Sometimes we can get so caught up in what we should do that we forget about the things we want to do. Is there something you love doing that you’ve not made time for in a while? Or something new you’d like to try? Choose a day to do it, mark it in your diary and enjoy!
5. Say no sometimes
One of the hardest things to do is say no to a friend or colleague, especially when they’re inviting you to do something fun! But when you’re exhausted and would rather head home to a book and a bath, it’s usually best to follow your instinct. Saying yes out of a sense of obligation doesn’t help anyone – you need to look after yourself before you can look after anyone else!
