Glycolic acid is a sought-after saviour of sun-damaged skin and a go-to ingredient for brightening and evening skin tone. As a fast, effective chemical exfoliator, it encourages cell turnover, weakening the bonds between dead skin cells so they slough off evenly to reveal fresh, new skin beneath. Glycolic acid is in the AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) family of exfoliating acids, along with Lactic and Malic acids.
